I am thrilled to announce that my quilt 'Honouring the Ladies' has won 1st place in the "Traditional" category at the 2024 Canadian Quilters Association National Juried Show.
Now that the quilt is out in the open, I am thrilled that Canadians can see it. I can begin to tell the fascinating story of how this quilt came to life.
This quilt was designed and created as I studied the life of Martha Virginia Crittenden Winchester, a Kentucky quilter from the 1800's, as a part of a quilt study that I participated in with the American Quilt Study Group.
It is a controlled crazy quilt, where anything goes! It includes heavy embroidery, use of antique lace, glass, mother of pearl buttons, velvet, wool, silk and cotton.
Stay tuned to my website for more pictures, closeups and lectures!
